This month May saw a rise in New Car Registrations with a 7.9% increase to 162,288 units due to a larger demand in the private sales sector.

According to SMMT stats private sales were up 14.3% with the fleet market aslo up by 4.8% bringing to an end a recent 3 month decline in sales.
 
     
New Registrations over the first five months of 2012 have increased by 2.6% to 868,166 units, which is a 21,653 unit increase over last year. As new models came to market, the alternatively-fuelled sector grew 31.8%. It seems consumers have held off purchasing new vehicles but are now being tempted with the latest fuel-efficiant models that are on offer. Petrol and diesel cars also recorded growth in the month and the year.

The Vauxhall Corsa became the best selling car in the uk for may 2012, the first time this year the Ford Fiesta will not be the number one for monthly sales.
